(And Why Your Skin Will Thank You)
At White Rabbit Skincare, we believe your skin deserves more than just a quick fix. Your skin deserves honest, nourishing care. That’s why every product we craft is a thoughtful blend of nature and science, free from anything that doesn’t truly serve your skin (or the planet).
You’ve probably seen these buzzwords on various skincare websites and drugstore packaging: "paraben-free," "silicone-free," "fragrance-free." But what do they really mean, and why should you care? Let’s pull back the curtain on these common skincare additives and explain why we proudly leave them out.
Parabens: The Preservatives We Don’t Preserve
What’s the deal with parabens?
Parabens are synthetic preservatives (think methylparaben, propylparaben) used to prolong shelf life by preventing bacteria and mold. They’re in a lot of products. However, just because they’re common doesn’t mean they’re the best choice for your skin.
Why we skip them:
Research suggests parabens may mimic estrogen in the body, potentially disrupting hormones. While the science is still evolving, we’d rather err on the side of caution, especially when gentler, plant-based alternatives exist. Moreover, parabens can have be an irritant for a lot of people, causing allergic reactions and skin flares.
Our approach:
We formulate our products like a chef crafts a fresh meal: minimal, natural preservatives and small batches to ensure potency. Think of our skincare like superfoods for your skin, best enjoyed fresh and often!

Silicones: The Illusion of Hydration
What’s the hype?
Silicones (like dimethicone or cyclomethicone) give products that velvety slip and create a temporary "barrier" to lock in moisture. In theory this is great. Unfortunately, silicones don’t always do what you’d like them to.
Why we pass on the faux glow:
-
They clog pores, trapping dirt and sebum (hello, breakouts!).
-
They don’t truly nourish your skin, in fact, they just sit on top of skin like cling film.
-
They’re not biodegradable, lingering in waterways long after rinse-off.
What we use instead:
Rich, plant-powered oils (jojoba, rosehip) and butters (shea, cocoa) that actually sink in and heal. No smoke and mirrors—just real skincare.

Artificial Fragrances: The Hidden Irritants
Artificial fragrances are unfortunately often a cocktail of undisclosed chemicals (often phthalates or allergens) that make products smell like a tropical getaway – but can trigger redness, itching, or worse. Thankfully, skincare products don’t have to rely on artificial fragrances for a spa-like smell.
Why we keep it natural:
-
Artificial fragrances are one of the biggest culprits of skin reactions (especially for sensitive skin!).
-
There’s zero transparency! You can’t be sure what “fragrance” really means.
-
Nature already provides beautiful scents (hello, lavender and citrus oils!).
Our rule: If we wouldn’t put it in our belly, it’s not going in your skincare. Only real botanicals need apply!

Plus, at White Rabbit, we promise full transparency. There are no sneaky additives here, just honest, effective skincare. It’s that simple.
