It's that time of year again - Halloween!! Pumpkin picking seems to be the in thing to do this year, and everyone seems to be in the halloween spirit. It got us thinking - what does pumpkin actually do for you?
White Rabbit did our research. It turns out Pumpkin is full of Vitamins A,C & E and contains antioxidants that will help prevent sun damage and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Who would have thought it! Not only that but it is fab for your hair, and your insides!! Turns out pumpkin is a vegan skincare lovers ultimate best friend. So, we have come up with some ideas on how you can make use of your halloween pumpkins this year!
1. Make a body scrub
So, you've carved your scary pumpkin and your left with its guts (we're trying to be grim here it is halloween). Mix your pumpkin with olive oil and sugar until you have a nice thick paste. Then take it to the shower, and rub all over your body with a cloth or loofah. Finish by rinsing and drying yourself and then using a moisturiser all over leaving you with the most soft and subtle skin.
2. Luscious Pumpkin Locks
We all want luscious healthy locks, well apparently pumpkin can help you achieve them. Homemade pumpkin hair masks seems to be on trend this year. All you need is a can of pumpkin or your pumpkin guts, 1/4 cup of coconut oil and two tablespoons of honey. After washing your hair rub your pumpkin hair mask all over the ends of your hair (avoid the roots if you have oily hair) and place a shower cap over it and leave it to work its magic. After a while rinse it out properly and prepare for gorgeous silky smooth locks.
3. Make some Pumpkin soup.
We love some Pumpkin soup. BBC good food have the ultimate vegan pumpkin soup recipe along with lots of other fab pumpkin recipe ideas. There were too many to choose from, so our advice is to visit the BBC good food website for some pumpkin style inspiration and get cooking!
4. Pumpkin Smoothie
A delicious pumpkin smoothie? Yes Please! We found the ultimate Pumpkin smoothie recipe from Berry Sweet life. All you need is pumpkin, banana, apple, peanut butter, coconut milk and a blender. Steam your pumpkin until its is soft and then blitz it in the blender with your other ingredients. Pour into a glass and sprinkle a bit of cinnamon, there you have it the ultimate halloween smoothie.
We love halloween at White Rabbit and even more so now that we know we can get some good out of our pumpkins. Although we can't promise we won't still eat our body weights in halloween treats - Oops.
