To tone or not to tone, that is the question (or it least it would be in Shakespeare's skincare regime)
For the longest time toners have been a bit of a grey area: they have been dismissed as an 'optional' or even unnecessary step in your skincare regime by many, but for us here at White Rabbit Skincare, we believe that a well-formulated toner can bring amazing benefits to your skin, and even boost the benefits of the other products you use.
In a nutshell, toners are meant to be used after cleansing and before moisturising, to remove all traces of cleanser or excess oils/residue, and restore and repair the skin's surface to make it receptive to oils/serums/creams. Traditionally (in the days of harsh, soap-based cleansers) toners were formulated to restore skin's pH levels, but nowadays cleansers are much more gentle and don't really affect skin pH, leaving the door open for toners to do other jobs!
The benefits of a toner can be seen and felt almost instantly, and many (such as our Orange and Aloe Toner) can be sprayed onto skin at any time of the day as a very effective skin pick-me-up.
Toners are particularly helpful for problem or acne prone skin, as they help to reduce sebum and bacteria, whist supporting moisture, natural oils and good bacteria skin needs.
Indeed our toner contains vegetable glycerine, an excellent natural humectant, which means it helps the product (and as such, our skin) hold onto water/moisture. Equally as hydrating is the aloe vera it contains, and it's base of orange floral water helps promote skin circulation. It's a big favourite of ours - and has also been featured in Vegan Life Magazine as a holy grail product!
Orange specifically has many benefits in skincare - and not just in toners. You can read more about these benefits through the blogpost Sabai Handmade Soaps created.
For the sake of one extra step and taking a few seconds to wipe a cotton pad over your face, your skin will thank you for it!
