Amazing secrets for beautiful skin

Amazing secrets for beautiful skin

As much as I would like to tell you that all you need for beautiful skin is one particular face mask and bang, you're sexy as hell, I'm afraid your skin needs a little more work.

But trust me, it's so worth it!

Skincare is a massive industry, and it can be confusing as to what to invest in and when and how to use various products.

So, I have done the hard work for you so that all you need to do is grab a tea, sit back and read on for beautiful skin!

Moisturise

I know that telling you to moisturise isn't the most groundbreaking of discoveries but hear me out.

If you were to search online for how to get glowing skin, many would tell you to scrub and exfoliate your skin.

Now, this can be great in moderation, but a lot of scrubbing can break down your skin's good balance of fats and leave it open to outside chaos.

Your skin will literally never get tired of moisturiser.

It fights wrinkles and helps repair skin cells and is awesome at protecting skin from the sun and air pollutants.

Many of us love a good hot shower, unfortunately, the hot water strips moisture right out of your skin. So make sure to use plenty of moisturiser afterwards or cool down the water a little.

If you need an amazing moisturiser I'd look no further than this coconut and rosehip calming day moisturiser

Coconut oil is an awesome moisturiser and rosehip works by making the skin glow and look dewy.

Hydrate, and then hydrate and then hydrate some more

Try to ditch the sugary drinks and go for water as much as you can. Even if it's sparkly water, hydration from the inside is just as important as it is from the outside.

Even try adding a slice of lemon to your water. For one thing, it spices up the flavour so things are a little more interesting. They also produce phytonutrients that prevent cell damage and lemons also contain electrolytes that help hydration.

A higher price tag doesn't always mean more effectiveness

It's hard to look at a face cream that's 70 odd quid and not assume it must be amazing for your skin.

Most of the time, products with a higher price are just trying to make more money and you can get the same effect from something cheaper.

You'll see that products claim to have ingredients such as "diamond powder" to make sense of the higher price. When in fact this is a compound within the product that will make your face appear shiny and has no actual skin cell benefits.

Always keep it simple and the more natural the better. No one needs diamond power and golden fairy dust on their skin.

Apply your skincare products to damp skin

This is something I learned not too long ago and at first, I didn't quite believe it.

I thought that the product on top of damp skin would just slip off and not have enough space to sink in.

It wasn't until I gave it a go and realised that I was totally wrong!

Product slips into damp skin because the skin is like a little sponge when in this state. The dampness allows the skin to lock in the moisturiser and give you the benefits from the product.

Follow a CTM routine

I find it totally crazy that some people suggest 10 step skincare routines! 3 is really all you need to keep your skin healthy.

1 - Cleanse your skin

Cleansing is to remove all the dirt and make-up from your skin so that it is fresh and ready to soak up some goodness.

2 - Tone

Applying a good toner helps restore your skin's natural PH level and aids your skin in pulling in moisture in the next step.

Usually, toners come in a watery liquid form and can be applied using cotton pads or simply putting some on your hands and applying on your face.

Why not try our amazing orange blossom and aloe vera toner?

The orange and aloe vera together work so well and calm any inflammations down!

3 - Moisturise

The last step is to simply cover your skin with a great moisturiser packed with face loving ingredients.

Work from the outside, in

If your diet isn't fairly healthy then unfortunately this will show on your skin.

Now I'm not suggesting that you have to eat perfectly and chug down the kale smoothies all day long. Everyone, even avid gym bunnies have their treats!

Allow yourself treats here and there and try to stick to foods that are going to nourish your skin.

Examples of these are:

  • Sunflower seeds

These seeds contain lots of vitamin E which is great for skin, blood and the brain.

  • Walnuts

All nuts are great for your health but in particular, walnuts contain zinc and omega 3 fatty acids, which aid your skin's health greatly!

  • Avocados

Avocados are high in healthy fats which help keep the skin young and protect your skin from the sun.

  • Sweet potatoes

These contain beta carotene which can act as a completely natural sunblock and help your skin stay young and fresh.

  • Tomatoes

Tomatoes are an awesome source of vitamin C which helps your skin stay healthy and protects the skin from wrinkles.

  • Dark chocolate (at least 70%)

If you need a good reason to have a quick treat then here it is!

The benefits of cocoa on the skin are pretty damn amazing. Did you know that dark chocolate is high in antioxidants?

I recently read a study where the participants had a small amount of dark chocolate every day for 6-12 weeks. Afterwards, they found their skin to feel thicker and more moisturised.

It also felt smoother, less sensitive to sunburn, and improved the look of wrinkles.

You'll also see a difference in your skin if you can regularly work out!

My mental health hit the floor when I was in isolation for just under 2 weeks straight.

I felt useless, bored, and all I wanted to do was drive into the Scottish Highlands like my partner and I do all the time.

I started working out with my partner and creating a consistent schedule and this honestly saved the day!

Not only was I feeling strong and genuinely happy, my skin felt instantly better and any eczema flare-ups I was having were cooling down.

Treat yourself

My last little tip for you is to remember to treat your skin every now and then.

Have a night where you soak in the tub and use an incredible face mask like this one!

Aloe and Rose Healthy Hydration Pink Clay Face Mask

Then put on a fab smelling moisturiser, fluffy pjs and watch your favourite movie.

How perfect does that sound?
