Say What? The Konjac Sponge Review - White Rabbit Skin Care

Say What? The Konjac Sponge Review

We recently received this curious little item at White Rabbit HQ to try - and already we're hooked!
We present to you the humble yet thoroughly effective Konjac Sponge, a 100% natural product crafted from pure edible vegetable roots. Such vegetable roots are from the said Konjac plant (or Konjac Potato or Konnyaku); a perennial native to Asia which can be found growing wild at high altitudes.
First discovered in the Indochinese region, Konnyaku has been used in Korea, Japan and China for over 1,500 as medicine, food, a dieting aid and as a beauty product, and the actual konjac 'sponge' was created for use on delicate baby skin - and we can vouch for it's gentleness!
As well as being a completely natural food source (and low in calories), Konjac is 97% water, rich in  minerals and naturally alkaline. As such is is pH neutral and therefore perfect for use on skin, to leave it perfectly balanced and smooth.
100% biodegradable and fully sustainable, this moisture rich plant fiber is free from chemicals, colouring, additives and irritants - and ties in perfectly with what we (White Rabbit Skincare) stand for as a company!
On removing the sponge from the outer packaging we were surprised at how 'moist' it was, and how very smooth and soft it felt - very unlike traditional sponges which can feel somewhat scratchy. It is so gentle that it can even be used round the delicate eye area - result!
The Konjac sponge can be used with or without cleanser - so if you use a facial wash this could be perfect for you, to add a gentle exfoliation dimension! - but we choose to simply run it under the cold tap first thing in the morning, run it over the skin, then follow up with a toner and day cream.
The sponge gently works away to exfoliate, soften and stimulate blood flow, whilst maintaining skin's pH balance and eliminating all traces of surface grime, to leave you with supple, nurtured and radiant skin.
After use, simply rinse through with water and hang up to dry - the sponge can beused multiple times (replacement once the fibres start coming loose is advised).
Our little sponge was simply 'pure' Konjac fibre, but sponges enriched with different minerals and natural additives - such as charcoal or green clay for oily skin - are available.
We loved it so much we are seriously considering stocking these on our website - please let us know your thoughts!
