Jade Rollers: Tool of wonder or instrument of torture?!

We're putting it out there: nowadays there is a lot of, ahem, 'bullshit beauty.'
We personally don't believe that waving a crystal near your face can get rid of acne or that doing a juice cleanse can 'detoxify' your skin, or that whispering positive affirmations to yourself each morning can cure your rosacea.
And if you're ultra sceptical, you could be forgiven for refusing to believe that rolling a green rock up and down your face like a rolling pin on a slab of dough can do anything other than feel 'interesting - and a bit silly.
But as stockists of New Jade rollers ourselves, we're here to discuss whether or not jade rollers really do anything—at least, from a medical standpoint.

“Jade facial rollers have been used to massage the skin since the 17th century in China

Originating in China in the 17th century, face rollers - particularly jade rollers - have been used to massage the skin, and are also said to 'remove toxins' from the skin, smooth fine lines decrease dark circles and under-eye bags, ease tension headaches, calm inflammation, heal breakouts, brighten skin, and create an overall feeling of 'zen'

But when it comes to the crux of the issue, here's what face rollers cannot do:

  • increase collagen stimulation
  • reduce wrinkles
  • enhance or increase the penetration of skincare ingredients
  • clear acne outbreaks

Here's what we suggest for using your face roller (which, coincidentally feels AMAZING if kept in the fridge first...):

Apply a few drops of moisturizer, serum, or oil to your clean, dry face, then gently roll the jade up, down, and all across your skin until the product is absorbed. Ta-da!
